Good morning, guys! I have a project to share today that I made for the Basically Bare Design Team Blog. It’s Christmas-themed, but don’t start throwing things at me yet. I know that none of us are at all happy to see people putting up Christmas decorations or running Christmas themed commercials before we even get half way through November, but we crafters all know that starting on Christmas early is a necessity. Who wants to be working on their Christmas cards on December twenty-something? Not me. So, I’m off to the races with my first batch of Holiday crafting. (This is, of course, not to say that there won’t be another Halloween project sneaking in before Christmas, but that’s how I spookily roll.)
So, here is my first Christmas project for this year. It’s a mini I made using a Basically Bare Plain Jane Krafty Keepsakes album.
I covered the front and back, as well as the chipboard center page, with Basic Grey papers and edged them all with Art Anthology Sorbet paints.
On the front cover, I added lots of Prima poinsettias and a transparent tag by Making Memories.
I painted the back of the transparency with a small amount of Art Anthology Sorbet to make it look a little like a frosty piece of glass.
The “2013” on the front cover is made with little wooden circles. I put a little bead of Art Anthology Dimensional Crystal on each one and then smooshed two of them together to spread the paint over the surface. When I pulled them apart, it left an ice-crystal like texture (although now that I look at the pictures, they look like little frosted sugar cookies, which is a pretty neat accident!). I let this dry, and then covered it lightly with Art Anthology Sorbet in Frost for some extra glitter. Then, I added the numbers using Dimensional Crystal in Bluebird.
The back cover and the center chipboard page are each covered with paper but not embellished any further. Yet. There will be some photos added as they are taken, but I did not want to add any dimensional embellishments since I plan to pack the envelopes with little bits and pieces of Christmas mementos that I accumulate during the season, and I don’t want it to be too bulky to close.
Each of the four policy envelope pages are wrapped with a silver paper doily. I really like the contrast between the kraft paper and the sparkly metallic doily.
The doilies are fastened at the back of the envelopes with a different sticker on each one.
On this album, I tied one big ribbon bow on the binding instead of my normal loads of little ribbons so that it would look kind of like a present.
That’s all for me today. I hope you’re all enjoying the beautiful fall weather and getting ready for a fantastic Holiday season. I’ll see you again soon.
Thanks for visiting!
